I AM PROUD OF THE WOMAN I'VE BECOME

"I am proud of the woman I am today because I went through one hell of a time being her".

Hi glamazons, and how are we doing this fine day. It feels like it's been ages and I agree with you all, but with Christmas on the way and all that comes with it, you can very well imagine how tight my schedule is.

Today's post will be one of those feel good posts, which I decided to write not just because of the title but understanding that there's so much to be proud of oneself for.
Without digressing the Nigerian blogosphere and social media have been agog with the book "On Becoming" by Toke Makinwa, while I haven't read the book which I hope to purchase real soon, the reviews and details from the book have prompted me to encourage we all as ladies and women. While many have thrown stones at her, I stand as one of those who encourage her. I'm not interested in what may have led her there, or whether she did it intelligently or not, but this is about encouraging another woman like me. While I admit that women think more with our hearts than our heads, it could have happened to anyone and it's still going on. It's so hard being a woman in this world we live in and I feel we always have to fight to get our voices heard and when you're able to you're labelled one name or the other.

I am today because  of who I was, and for that I am proud of what I've become.
My faith in God has become stronger because He made me understand the need for His presence in my life. Without Him I am nothing and for that I am proud of the woman I've become.

I am confident because it took me to be ridiculed and laughed at, it took me to be bullied  and humiliated and so where else could I go than to rise, ( Still I Rise by Maya Angelou )  I can't go down anymore and for that I am proud of the woman I've become

I am strong today because I was weak, a time when it felt I was scared to affront life's hardships before me, scared when I thought my dad would have died, but I faced it like boss, I am proud of the woman I've become.

I can weather the storm because I've been through being broke and didn't have to steal but rather understood that I had to work and seek help from the right sources to provide for myself and my family, I am proud of the woman I've become.

I'm not scared to love hard because I've been heart broken one too many times and wouldn't fall for any fool anymore, I know the kind of man for me and thank goodness I'm married to him a whole person and not a broken piece, I am proud of the woman I've become.

I am a woman that doesn't need a man, but a woman a man needs, I am proud of the woman I've become.

My darlings, are you proud of whom you've become? What did you come out of it with.
